Top 8 Decklists - Modern for Goodies - November 2019

Another instalment of Modern for Goodies has just finished, with 49 players having joined us for the event. Of course, there were many familiar faces to be found in the Top 8 from our junior players to our most competitive regulars. Both Ben Jones and Mikhail Laudencia have been on an impressive run of form, having both made the Top 8 of our recent MEGA Modern MCQ. Mikhail especially has impressed, with no less than four Top 8’s in a row. Well done!

On the whole, the Top 8 was very diverse, with seven different archetypes represented. There were some new decks to the format, such as the Sultai Sanctuary deck, which is jam-packed with Throne of Eldraine cards and not just the one you expect…cough…Oko…cough. Oko does make an appearance, though only in the sideboard, with Mystic Sanctuary, Drown in the Loch and Into the Story being the main deck stars. Grixis Shadow is back at the top though, taking the event down for our winner, Ben Jones. Surprisingly, there were no Urza decks making Top 8 this time around, possibly due to the more aggressive and/or disruptive decks on display.

Of course, at our MEGA Weekend there will be the famous MEGA Modern, where YOU could win our top prize of a holiday for two to any MagicFest in the world! (Up to the value of £2,000). There will be another Modern for Goodies before then on the 8^th of December, giving a great opportunity to practise for the big event. We also have our FIRST EVER Pioneer event taking place on the 24^th November.
