 Modern for Goodies - October 2021 - 'Back With a Bang!'

  It feels incredible to be able to introduce you to the Decklists from our latest Modern for Goodies!

It's been a long 18 months where we haven't been able to welcome you all to a great day of spellslinging with some amazing prizes!  

Although we haven't been able to play Modern in paper for some time, the format has continued to evolve online as can be seen in the Decklists below. Modern Horizons 2, unsurprisingly has caused the biggest shake-up to Modern with Ragavan turning up in multiple decks in the Top 8, as well as in the rest of the field. Prismatic Ending, the highly flexible removal spell, was also well represented on the day. Perhaps the most surprising entry into the Top 8 was the Ponza list piloted by Jim Carter. This list sported very few cards from MH2, with most of those that are appearing in the sideboard. I think what that shows is that Modern is still a format that rewards tight play and knowing your deck well. 

The winner of our top prize, a Revised Underground Sea, was Zach Meekcoms piloting his Temur Reclamation list to victory over Alex Campbell's Niv-Mizzet Yorion deck. The match went all the way but Zach eventually triumphed to claim the top prize. We give our congratulations to Zach on his victory and heartfelt commiserations to Alex, although the box of MH2 he received as a prize no doubt went some way towards consoling him.
