Top 8 Decklists - Modern for Goodies - October 2019
The Throne of Eldraine Modern adventure has begun, with many cards from the new set showing up in our Top 8 Modern decks. Emry, Lurker of the Loch was expected by many to impact Modern and it didn't disappoint, appearing here in Axion Now Team member Matt Brown's Jeskai Ascendancy list alongside Urza, Lord High Artificer and Paradoxical Outcome. Once Upon a Time, the other card heralded in spoiler season, also showed up in a revamped Amulet Titan list, adding more consistency to the popular land-based combo deck. That brings us nicely onto the lands from Eldraine that showed up in our top decks. Mystic Sanctuary, a fetchable late-game source of card quality, allows the pilot to put a Cryptic Command or Archmage's Charm back on top of their library, providing a great means to pull ahead in the late-game, an area the Blue Moon deck was perhaps lacking in before this printing. Castle Garenbrig also appears as another way that the Amulet Titan decks get to cheat on their mana.
Despite all these new additions showing up in the Top 8 it was tried and tested decks that came out on top. Mikhail Laudencia followed up his Top 8 from back in August with a place in the Final here, with his trusty Tron deck. Adam Baker took Burn all the way to the win, something the deck had been threatening to do since it put three copies into our Top 8 last time out.
